Prenatal breastfeeding instruction

One of the best ways to prepare for breastfeeding is to take a class,  Even better, a one-on-one class where you can learn about the specifics of breastfeeding as it relates to you.  I welcome any questions or concerns you may have. There are no silly questions when it comes to breastfeeding. We are all unique, we may have slight differences in our anatomy and our experiences influence us. The pregnant body is at work developing the processes necessary for milk production.  The last hurrah is delivery of the baby and that is where you pick it up..........

This private meeting will take place in the comfort of your own home surrounded by whomever you want to include.  Your spouse and/or partner is encouraged to be present.  The prenatal breastfeeding instruction consists of:

  • The anatomy of the breast.

  • The different stages of making milk.

  • Hormones involved in milk making.

  • Baby's instinctive stages.

  • Birthing methods and possible impacts on making milk.

  • Feeding cues.

  • Positioning and latching.

  • What is normal and milestones to measure progress.

  • When to ask for help and who to ask.

  • Your support system.

  • Taking care of yourself.
